Arkansas Brass to perform at Henderson Oct. 26 Oct. 24, 2017 ARKADELPHIA - The Arkansas Brass Quintet will perform at Henderson State University at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Russell Fine Arts recital hall. The concert will feature Eric Ewazen’s Frostfire along with several light classics and jazz tunes. The quintet has a long association with Henderson, beginning in the 1970s as the Henderson Faculty Brass Quintet. It became the South Arkansas Brass Quintet in 1986, and later evolved into the Arkansas Brass Quintet. It’s one of the oldest brass quintets in America. Several Henderson faculty members and students have performed with the group over the years. Current members are: • John Webb, trumpet, a Henderson alum and professor of trumpet at UA-Monticello • Jim Buckner, trumpet, Henderson professor of trumpet • Jim Woolly, horn, a former adjunct professor of horn at Henderson and founding member of the quintet • Jeff Parker, trombone, choir director at Hall High School and former member of the South Arkansas and Shreveport symphony orchestras • Chris Kornegay, tuba, Henderson alum and retired band director at Paris, Texas. He’s also a founding member. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, go to arkansasbrass.com
